For a long time I've been wondering what is the matter with Finnish people. And with 'service' people in particular. I don't mean to generalize, but I can't recall the last time I got really good, or even good, service. That is of course a matter of personal opinion, but... Take an example. I went to a shoe store yesterday - it's not a cheap one and it should really emphasize service as you have to ask for another shoe if you want to try them on. I found a nice pair and tried to ask the salesperson about them. She didn't bother to even look at me, but was far more interested in typing the computer in front of her. I returned the shoe to the shelf and left. And won't go back. Thanks Ecco!
I could go on and on with examples like this, ranging from the ones where you don't get served in your own mother tongue in your own home country (the cons of living near the border) to the countless examples of "how difficult it is to smile?????????? And be generally nice????????". But this one I have to tell you. Last winter I was searching for a new hairdresser and tried one in a new shopping centre. It was a salon of two women hairdressers, very talkative ones. But they talked to each other, not to me - I was the f***ing customer! The talk was constant and comprised mainly such language and issues that I just don't know if they were lesbians or not. Being a lesbian is fine with me, but hello, I may not want to hear everything! I wasn't there for a company, you see :) And they also had the nerve to discuss about me, in front of me, saying things that they thought were awfully wrong with my hair, and, going on with this, one of the hairdressers stated that "oh, maybe this customer doesn't want to come again". Guess what the other replied. "Oh, she will!!!!". Well oh, that was the only and last time I went there. Shame, because that hairdresser was really good at what she was doing with my hair.
